Weaver 

We are looking for a weaver with a background in traditional and ideally, digital weaving.  They will also have the opportunity to learn digital techniques. The Textile Center’s TextileLab is equipped with two digital looms (Tc2). This job is highly varied and dynamic. This job is highly varied and dynamic. The candidate must be willing to take on a range of tasks, including setting up looms, sharing their knowledge, participating in national and international collaboration projects, and learning new skills.

Qualifications:

  • A background in textiles with experience in traditional weaving
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive attitude toward teamwork and continuous learning
  • An interest in digital technology

The position is part-time with flexible working hours, but it is important to note that the workload is heaviest at the beginning of each month.

Textile Lab Manager

We are seeking a full-time manager to oversee the Textile Center’s TextileLab in Blönduós, Iceland.

First opened in 2021, the TextileLab is equipped with a variety of digital tools for textile-related research and experimentation. It is open to everyone—from students and artists to designers—offering excellent facilities for textile innovation and development, with a strong focus on sustainability and the circular economy. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovation, textiles, technology, and environmental issues. Relevant technical backgrounds include textile engineering, industrial technology, and electronics. The role also involves participation in national and international research and collaboration projects.

A requirement for residency in the area is mandatory as the position requires significant on-site presence.
